A safe and caring experience starts with clear expectations

Stay With My Pet is a community-based platform where animal wellbeing and mutual trust always come first. These safety guidelines are designed to support a calm, secure, and positive experience for pets and people alike.

Safety isn’t about rules for the sake of rules — it’s about thoughtful choices, open communication, and shared responsibility.

  • General principles for everyone
  • A pet’s wellbeing always comes first
  • Communication should be honest and clear

All important expectations should be agreed before care begins

  • If something is unclear, ask — assumptions rarely help

For Pet Parents

Clarity and preparation create a safe stay

As a pet parent, your role is to give your pet friend a clear and honest picture of your pet’s needs, so care can happen smoothly and without surprises.

  • Complete your pet’s profile thoughtfully

Your pet’s profile is the foundation for finding the right match. Please make sure to:

  • describe daily routines (feeding, walks, rest)
  • share personality traits and behavioural characteristics
  • note any health-related needs, medications, or allergies

mention situations that may cause stress or anxiety

The more accurate the information, the calmer the experience for everyone.

Before confirming care, discuss:

where and when care will take place

  • daily routines and house rules
  • how you’ll communicate during the stay

what to do if plans change or something unexpected happens

Clear agreements create confidence for both sides.

  • Share essential contacts and instructions

Before care begins, make sure your pet friend has:

  • your up-to-date contact details
  • your veterinarian’s name and contact information

This helps everyone respond calmly and quickly if needed.

  • Stay available during care

A good experience continues throughout the stay. We recommend that you:

  • remain reachable
  • answer questions clearly and calmly
  • provide updates if anything changes

Open communication allows care to adapt to your pet’s needs.

  • Leave honest feedback after care

After care ends, share your experience:

  • what worked well
  • what could be improved next time

Kind and honest feedback helps keep the community safe and trustworthy.

For Pet Friends

Experience is not required — care and responsibility are

Stay With My Pet welcomes pet friends with or without prior experience. What matters most is commitment, willingness to learn, and a responsible mindset.

Choose care situations that fit your schedule, comfort level, and confidence.

  • Choose thoughtfully and ask questions

Safe care starts with informed choices:

  • accept stays you feel comfortable with
  • ask questions before care begins

be honest if something feels too challenging

Asking questions is a sign of responsibility.

  • Follow the agreed routine

Pets feel safest when:

  • their daily rhythm stays familiar
  • feeding, walks, play, and rest follow agreed routines
  • care is calm, attentive, and consistent

If you notice changes, inform the pet parent.

  • Be present and attentive

A great pet friend:

  • is genuinely present, not rushed
  • observes the pet’s mood and behaviour
  • stays calm in unexpected situations

You don’t need to know everything — what matters is care, awareness, and asking for help when needed.

  • If something feels uncertain

If:

  • a pet’s behaviour or condition changes
  • you’re unsure how to proceed
  • a situation feels unusual

contact the pet parent or reach out to us.

You’re not alone — we’re here to support you.

  • Emergencies and unexpected situations

Accidents are rare, but preparedness brings peace of mind. We recommend that you:

  • know the pet’s veterinary details

keep the pet parent’s contact information accessible

  • act calmly and responsibly

If urgent action is required, the pet’s wellbeing always comes first.

  • Respect and trust within the community

Stay With My Pet is built on mutual respect:

  • communicate kindly and respectfully
  • honour agreements
  • give feedback honestly and constructively

Every experience helps shape a caring and safe community.

When you need support or have questions

If anything feels unclear or you need help, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We’re here to support — not to judge or penalise.

  • Creating safer experiences together

Safety is not the responsibility of one person alone.

It’s a shared commitment to care, awareness, and trust.
